Signal app that shot to fame within no time since WhatsApp's new privacy policy was introduced is down for several users globally.
Downdetector confirms the outage and hints that the downtime is due to server error while some users may be facing issues while logging in.
The messaging app has tweeted to confirm that they are facing technical difficulties and they are working on to resolve the issue. In a tweet, the company wrote, Signal is experiencing technical difficulties. We are working hard to restore service as quickly as possible.
At the time of writing, Downdetector received over 2,000 user complaints regarding Signal app issues.
Several Signal users took to social media platforms to report the outage. Some of the users claimed that Signal was down for over two hours on Friday.
A recent data point from Sensor Tower claimed that Signal app was downloaded by 17.8 million users in almost a week. On Thursday, the messaging app announced that it touched 50 million downloads on the Android platform.
Signal has already got plenty of marketing thanks to Elon Musk, Edward Snowden, and more prominent people worldwide.
Brian Acton, co-founder Signal Foundation, recently told Reuters that it was looking to hire new people to ramp up development of the app. Right now, the Signal app missed out on a lot of features and Acton has confirmed that they are improving video and group chat features.
